Why make the change? The average supermarket bought floss is heavy on the packaging, usually a roll of floss inside a plastic cartridge. These cartridges are often plastics which cannot be easily recycled. And the floss itself is typically made from plastic also, the waxed versions even come coated with a petroleum-based treatment.
